Ferry operator Stena Line invests millions in comfort and quality on its North Sea service
In spring 2025, Stena Line completed a major modernization of cabins on its route between Kiel and Gothenburg. A total of 368 cabins were refurbished across the Stena Scandinavica (191 cabins) and Stena Germanica (177 cabins).
In addition to a completely new interior design, the cabins now feature more comfortable beds, upgraded bathrooms, and an overall higher standard of furnishings. Responding to passenger preferences, the number of triple cabins was also increased on both vessels.
More comfort without higher prices
“We are investing in the long-term appeal of our overnight service without changing our pricing policy,” says Mikko Juelich, Trade Director and Managing Director of Stena Line Germany. The cabin upgrade is just the beginning, with further onboard improvements planned: renovations in the onboard restaurant areas are scheduled for 2026.
With this investment, Stena Line demonstrates its commitment to remaining a reliable and comfortable transport link between Germany and Sweden. The upgrades are designed to meet the expectations of today’s ferry travelers – while also strengthening tourism and business connections between northern Germany and western Sweden.
