New, sustainable hotel building to be part of Break Sokos Hotel Koli

The North Karelia Cooperative will start construction of a new hotel building in Koli village in the spring, which will become part of Break Sokos Hotel Koli. The new four-storey building, which is scheduled to open in 2023, will include 130 hotel rooms, a stylish restaurant and a sauna on the top floor. The hotel will also have a car park and charging stations for 10 electric cars.

In the future, Break Sokos Hotel Koli will consist of a panorama hotel with superior rooms, panorama restaurants and spas as well as the new building with restaurants, saunas and family rooms. The new hotel building will be especially aimed at families, groups and active travellers. The hiking trails of the national park can be reached directly from the hotel's courtyard, and camping equipment can be rented or tours booked at the Safari House, which is located in the same building.

Sustainable tourism as an approach

The design of the new building is geared towards sustainable tourism. The new hotel part will have its own solar power system and will be powered by geothermal energy. The interior will be made of natural materials inspired by the environment and seasons in Koli.
Break Sokos Hotel Koli has already been awarded both the Sustainable Travel Finland label and the Green Key certificate for its sustainable operation.

Construction is scheduled to start in April 2022 and the hotel should be completed in time for the 2023 summer season. Rooms can be booked starting at the end of 2022.
