Clayton Hotels and Maldron Hotels broaden the Nordic hotel group’s presence, particularly in Ireland and the UK

Scandic completed its acquisition of Dalata Hotel Group’s hotel operations on 2 November 2026. The transaction covers 57 hotels with around 12,500 rooms and a development pipeline of approximately 1,600 additional rooms. The purchase price is €500 million.

A broader European portfolio

The acquisition adds Clayton Hotels and Maldron Hotels to the group’s brand portfolio. Scandic now has more than 320 hotels across 150 destinations in 11 markets.

For tour operators working across several European destinations, the expansion is worth monitoring. However, the announcement does not specify changes to trade terms or cooperation with the group’s Nordic properties.

Why we are watching this

Scandic’s expansion gives a major Nordic hotel partner a broader European footprint, raising the question of whether future cooperation could extend across more markets.
