Strong operational reliability during the busy summer season

SAS was Europe’s most punctual airline in July 2026. According to the latest On-Time Performance report from aviation analytics company Cirium, 84.32 percent of the airline’s flights arrived within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time.

The result was achieved during the peak European travel season. High passenger volumes, congested airports and tightly scheduled operations make July one of the most demanding months for airlines.

“July puts every part of an airline’s operation to the test,” says Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS. He attributes the recognition to the dedication and teamwork of colleagues across the airline.

A consistent operational performance

SAS also topped Cirium’s global punctuality ranking in March and April 2026. Over the past two years, the airline has achieved seven number-one rankings in Europe and four globally.

Why we are watching this

Reliable flight connections are an important consideration for tour operators planning Nordic travel programs. Punctual services can reduce the risk of missed connections and support the smooth coordination of transfers, accommodation and other arrangements.

One month’s result cannot guarantee the performance of future flights. However, SAS’ repeated top rankings provide an indication of the airline’s operational consistency, particularly during busy travel periods.

Cirium’s On-Time Performance rankings are widely recognised benchmarks for airline operational reliability. A flight is classified as being on time when it arrives no more than 15 minutes after its scheduled arrival time.
