Norwegian airline Flyr is bankrupt

On Tuesday, the Norwegian airline Flyr announced that it will file for bankruptcy. There was no realistic solution to raise the funds needed for operations.

All departures and ticket sales have been cancelled.

Flyr started operations in mid-2021 to fly to domestic destinations in Norway and Europe. According to the group's CEO, weak financial markets and uncertainty about demand for air travel have been devastating for the company.

About 400 employees will lose their jobs as a result of the bankruptcy. The airline operates a leased fleet of 12 Boeing 737 aircraft, including six 737 MAX aircraft on behalf of Air Lease Corp.
