Scandic to open hotel in Kiruna's new centre

In Kiruna, a new landmark of the city rises into the sky: the city's largest hotel Scandic Kiruna, which will be opening its doors on 5 April 2022. The building's playful architecture was influenced by Kebnekaise and Lapporten, making it one of the most exciting buildings in Kiruna.

Scandic Kiruna blends the wilderness with the modern and internationally renowned city. From the moment guests step into the hotel's base camp, they will be greeted with an interior design inspired by nature and details of hiking, climbing, and nature throughout the surrounding city. In the hotel's top floor, Sweden's northernmost sky bar is available for visitors to see Kiruna from a height of 45 meters.

Additionally, the hotel is committed to sustainability. As a planned LEED Silver certified project, the hotel will have low water consumption and a well-equipped construction that optimizes the hotel's energy use and ensures its low-energy requirement. Scandic Kiruna will be powered by hydropower generated in Norway.
