New Oulu–Riga route improves access to Northern Finland

Air Baltic launches direct connection to Oulu

A new direct flight between Oulu and Riga is improving access to Northern Finland. The route has been operating since late March 2026 with five weekly departures.

Via Riga, travelers benefit from smooth onward connections to a wide range of European destinations. At the same time, the route supports inbound travel from the Baltic region and beyond. The schedule is designed to optimise transfer times, especially for departures from Oulu.

Boost from European Capital of Culture

The launch coincides with Oulu’s role as European Capital of Culture 2026, increasing the region’s international visibility.

The new route opens up additional options for itinerary planning, particularly for programs beyond the traditional Lapland hotspots. Improved regional connectivity is key to diversifying travel programs and unlocking new destinations within the Nordics.
