Two weekly flights with Västflyg to enhance connectivity and growth in Western Sweden starting October 2024

Västflyg is expanding its regional travel offerings with the introduction of a new direct connection between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Trollhättan Vänersborg Airport. Starting October 2, 2024, the airline will offer flights on this route twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. The new route is intended to strengthen access to and from Western Sweden, support local economic growth, and provide smooth connections for international travel.

Expansion beyond Bromma

While Västflyg already operates flights to Stockholm Bromma Airport, this new route marks an expansion of its offerings to Arlanda Airport. With a broader range of international destinations, Arlanda provides passengers in the Trollhättan region with more travel options.

"This new connection to Arlanda is a welcome addition to our services," said Anna Petre, CEO of Västflyg. "It addresses the clear need for faster and easier travel options from Trollhättan to global destinations. Arlanda's extensive international connections make travel even more efficient for our customers."

Swedavia welcomes new route

Swedavia, the operator of Stockholm Arlanda Airport, has expressed support for Västflyg's new service. "A strong domestic flight network is crucial for connecting people across Sweden," said Charlotte Ljunggren, Director of Marketing and Sales at Swedavia. "This new route will benefit travelers whether they are traveling for business, leisure, or to visit friends and family."

Support for sustainability in aviation

Västflyg's new connection aligns with Swedavia's ongoing commitment to sustainable aviation. As part of its long-term climate goals, Swedavia continues to promote the use of biofuels and has set a target for 2025 for five percent of the fuel consumed at Swedish airports to be fossil-free. Swedavia is a leader in operating climate-friendly airports and has already eliminated all its own fossil CO₂ emissions as of 2020.
