Helsinki is hosting the Michelin Guide Nordic ceremony

In May, the MICHELIN Guide Nordic Countries awards ceremony will take place in Helsinki, where the latest recipients of the prestigious MICHELIN stars will be announced. This prestigious event, which recognizes outstanding culinary achievements, brings together top Nordic chefs and gastronomy professionals in Finland's capital.

During the event, which will take place on May 27, 2024 at the Savoy Theater and Helsinki City Hall, not only the MICHELIN stars will be awarded, but also the MICHELIN Green Star for sustainable gastronomy and other special awards. Helsinki, as a national culinary flagship, is proud to showcase its diverse and high-quality culinary scene at this international event.

Helsinki's culinary prestige and sustainable food

The city's mayor, Juhana Vartiainen, is looking forward to the event and emphasizes the importance of food in attracting tourists to Finland. The MICHELIN ceremony is expected to strengthen Finland's reputation as a top destination for food tourism. The unveiling ceremony is in line with Helsinki's focus on food culture and provides a unique opportunity to unite various culinary events and experiences across the city. Local industry representatives are invited to participate to showcase the versatility, personality and uniqueness of Helsinki's food culture.

The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Countries showcases outstanding restaurants in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland. The 2023 edition includes 271 restaurants, 81 of which have been awarded one, two or three MICHELIN stars. Helsinki continues to be a culinary center with five MICHELIN-starred restaurants, complemented by additional starred restaurants in Turku and Porvoo. It is particularly noteworthy that three restaurants in Helsinki have been awarded the MICHELIN Green Star for environmentally friendly and sustainable gastronomy.
