Hurtigruten Group publishes sustainability report on environment, social and governance issues
The focus of Hurtigruten Group's latest ESG report is on sustainability measures and targets relating to the environment, social issues, and corporate governance. In addition, the current figures and an overview of activities were also disclosed.
The company is on track regarding the reduction of emissions. Hurtigruten Expeditions already has three ships with hybrid propulsion, of which MS Fridtjof Nansen was named the world's most sustainable ship last year.
Hurtigruten - the Original, meanwhile is modernizing its entire fleet with the aim of reducing emissions from the mail ships between Bergen and Kirkenes by 25% and NoX emissions by 80%. By 2030, the first zero-emission mail ship is expected to set sail in cooperation with SINTEF.
Hurtigruten Svalbard is focusing on developing a hybrid ship for day trips.
The report shows that the shipping company intends to be completely carbon-free by 2040 and emission-free by 2050. The Norwegian tour operator pursues a long-term corporate strategy in which consistent corporate governance, environmental awareness and social responsibility are of high importance.
