Hurtigruten changes commission model and promotes group specials at the same time

The Norwegian shipping company Hurtigruten wants to make the sale of tours more lucrative for travel agents. The flat commission of ten per cent could be abolished. At the same time, Hurtigruten wants to boost business with group bookings.

The ten per cent flat commission could be replaced by a new remuneration model in the new financial year. For the travel agencies, the conditions will not worsen.

The group business is to be strengthened in the future. Hurtigruten offers customer evenings and webinars to the sales partners. Customers receive on-board credit and an excursion to the North Cape. Travel groups booked by the end of September 2023 for the year 2024 will receive a free excursion to the North Cape on the classic mail ship route and also on the new Spitsbergen and North Cape routes. On the mail ship route, every guest receives an on-board credit of up to 250 euros, depending on the month of travel. In addition, Hurtigruten offers favourable group rates, a fixed cabin contingent for up to four months and increased commission payments. Tour guides travel free of charge.
