Helsinki Airport gains worldwide recognition for business travelers
Business travelers have clearly chosen Helsinki Airport as the leading airport in Europe, securing its position as the world's fifth best airport. The airport's redesigned facilities, tailored to the needs of business travelers, played a significant role in this success.
Helsinki Airport continues to maintain its strong position in international rankings. In 2023, Helsinki Airport handled 15.3 million passengers, with business travelers accounting for a remarkable 25%. Impressively, Helsinki Airport is the only European member in the world's top five airports, according to a list compiled by the renowned aviation ratings and research company Skytrax and published by BusinessFinancing.co.uk at the end of February.
Ulla Serlenius, Managing Director at Finavia, Helsinki Airport, emphasized the commitment to providing a seamless customer experience. Serlenius highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve customer satisfaction, paying particular attention to the preferences of business travelers. Notable features particularly appreciated by business travelers are the renovated terminal area, efficient check-in and security processes, smooth passage through the gate area and the professionalism of the airport staff.
Exclusive amenities for business travelers at Helsinki Airport
To cater to business travelers, Helsinki Airport offers priority services in the departures hall, including a dedicated check-in desk, access to a priority security check line and an exclusive airport lounge. In the arrivals hall, there is an airport hotel with ten work and rest areas and three bookable quiet work areas in the gate area.
Helsinki's commitment to the needs of business travelers also extends to its lounge facilities, three of which will be renovated in summer 2024. Two new concepts will be introduced, offering passengers enhanced opportunities to relax and work during their journey.
Finavia's premium parking lot, conveniently located on the first floor of the terminal, offers first-class services, including an elevator connection to the departure hall, around one hundred charging points for electric cars and additional amenities such as a car wash and a tire change/storage service.
Successful modernization: Helsinki Airport named a passenger favorite
The successful completion of Finavia's Helsinki Airport Development Programme in 2023, which aimed to modernize departure and arrival halls, parking lots, terminal facilities and services, is reflected in high passenger satisfaction. Helsinki Airport has been recognized as the best airport in Northern Europe in recent years (2018, 2020, 2022) and as the best airport in its size category in 2018, 2019 and 2022.
