Havila Voyages cruise ships on course

On Tuesday, 1 August, Havila Voyages took delivery of their coastal cruise ships Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux at the Tersan shipyard in Turkey. The Norwegian flag as well as the shipping company flag were hoisted.

CEO Bent Martini says: "We have now achieved our goal after a process that took a lot of time, resources and perseverance. Above all, the Norwegian authorities with whom we have an agreement, our customers, the coastal communities, our partners and all employees had to be very patient. We were confident that we would reach this moment, even though we have encountered new challenges at every turn. The fact that we finally have our own beautiful and state-of-the-art coastal vessels with spacious cabins and a high level of comfort for everyone on board is a milestone for the shipping company."

Havila Polaris is scheduled to start operations from Bergen on 17 August and will be the first ship to leave the Tersan shipyard. Havila Polaris is to follow on the same route a short time later, before entering service from Bergen on 23 August.

Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux also feature an energy-efficient hull design to cope with the different conditions on the Norwegian coast. The ships' batteries can run for up to four hours without emissions. They sail the UNESCO World Heritage Site Geirangerfjord silently and without emissions.

There has already been much positive feedback for Havila Voyages' two existing ships on the coastal route, Havila Capella and Havila Castor.
