The Havila Castor is the first passenger ship to enter the Geirangerfjord quietly and without emissions

In 2018, the Norwegian Parliament Storting decided that cruise ships and ferries will only be allowed to sail emission-free in Norway's World Heritage fjords from 2026 at the latest. Four years on, the ship Havila Castor, which has been sailing the Norwegian coastal route since May, has completed the first emission-free voyage in the Geirangerfjord. This was made possible by the use of the largest battery pack ever installed on a ship of this size – supplied by Corvus Energy Norway AS. According to Geir Bjørkeli, CEO of Corvus Energy, this demonstrates that the technology is also suitable for large ships that can sail emission-free for a longer period of time.

The Havila Castor is one of four identical vessels operating for Havila Kystruten on the postal shipping route between Bergen and Kirkenes. Corvus Energy has provided a complete 6.1 MWh Orca battery system for each of these vessels.
