Fridtjof Nansen has to discontinue 15-day Norway expedition trip

The Hurtigruten expedition ship Fridtjof Nansen briefly ran aground near the town of Måløy on the morning of 12.01.2022. Presumably, stormy weather with winds of up to 130 km/h caused the incident, which damaged the ship's propulsion system and hull. Fortunately, there were no injuries among the passengers.

The Fridtjof Nansen was underway with 233 guests on board on a 15-day Norway expedition that started in Hamburg on 2 January. In the early morning of 12 January, the ship had briefly made contact with the ground in the Sognefjord. The resulting water inflow was apparently directly under control.

The ship is now safely in the harbour of Måløy. The passengers were initially accommodated in local hotels, but will probably fly to Hamburg shortly afterwards.
