M/S Birka Gotland becomes the new Baltic Sea cruise ship

The recently announced cooperation between Viking Line and Gotlandsbolaget promises an exciting addition to the Baltic Sea cruise offering: the M/S Birka Gotland. Under the leadership of CEO Susanne Kaarnimo-Knight, this new cruise experience will offer itineraries from Stockholm via Mariehamn to Visby from the end of March 2024.

The maiden voyage around Easter 2024 marks the launch of the elegant M/S Birka Gotland, which not only connects Stockholm and Mariehamn, but also integrates Visby into its spring and summer itineraries. Later in the year, other fascinating places such as Härnösand, Ystad, Bornholm and Riga will be added to the itineraries.

"Our journey stems from the fascinating Baltic islands and a deep commitment to the sea, the archipelago and the unique environment. There is a growing demand for short excursions and longer discovery tours in this region," emphasises Susanne Kaarnimo-Knight, CEO of the up-and-coming company. "We are particularly proud to call at Visby during the blooming seasons and introduce travellers to the beauty of Gotland."

On board the M/S Birka Gotland, passengers can expect a varied entertainment programme with numerous restaurants, shopping facilities, a relaxing spa and impressive entertainment options.

"Our aim is to create an irresistible offering for the everyday explorer. The interest in our onboard experience is palpable and we look forward to unveiling all the details soon," assures Susanne Kaarnimo-Knight.

Tickets for the cruises with M/S Birka Gotland will be available from January 2024 and will serve travellers from 78 Swedish locations. Points of sale are Birka Gotland's dedicated website, the platforms of Viking Line and the channels of Destination Gotland.

The timetable of the M/S Birka Gotland for 2024 at a glance:

• Stockholm-Mariehamn-Stockholm: Daily sailings, except on certain days
• Stockholm-Mariehamn-Visby-Mariehamn-Stockholm: 26 departures from March to August
• Stockholm-Härnösand-Mariehamn-Stockholm: 7 voyages in May, June and September
• Stockholm-Riga-Mariehamn-Stockholm: 4 voyages in September and December
• Stockholm-Bornholm-Visby-Mariehamn-Stockholm: 3 voyages in May and August
• Stockholm-Ystad-Visby-Mariehamn-Stockholm: 2 trips in May and August
