More flights to Rovaniemi, Kittilä, and Ivalo – Finnair focuses on weekends and peak season travel
For winter 2025/2026, Finnair is significantly increasing its flight operations to northern Finland. With a record number of weekly flights to Lapland, the airline is responding to the growing demand for winter travel to Finland’s Arctic regions. The most popular destinations – Rovaniemi, Kittilä, and Ivalo – will see the biggest gains, especially on weekends when many holiday cottages have their changeover days.
Peak season reinforced with extra flights
“We’re pleased to offer our customers even better access to all our Lapland destinations this winter,” says Perttu Jolma, Vice President, Network at Finnair. The additional capacity will focus on the peak travel season from December to February, with more flights also added in March to support the full winter period.
Rovaniemi: up to 16 flights per day
Known as the “Home Airport of Santa Claus”, Rovaniemi will be served up to 72 times per week, which is 10 more flights than last winter. During the busiest weekends, Finnair will operate up to 16 daily flights on Saturdays and 14 on Sundays to Rovaniemi.
More flights to Kittilä and Ivalo
Kittilä, the gateway to renowned ski resorts Levi and Ylläs, will receive up to 41 weekly flights – an increase of seven compared to last winter. On peak weekends, Finnair will fly there up to eight times per day. To the north, Ivalo will be served up to 33 times weekly, with additional Saturday and Sunday flights improving flexibility for travelers heading to the far north.
Kuusamo also gets boosted connections
In addition to Lapland, Finnair is expanding service to Kuusamo, a popular winter destination in northeastern Finland. Two extra Saturday flights and one additional Sunday service will provide better access during the busy season.
