Finnair buys 750 tons of sustainable aviation fuel for flights from Helsinki

Finnair is increasing the use of sustainable aviation fuel as part of its goal to reduce carbon emissions from air travel. To this end, Finnair has purchased 750 tons of sustainable aviation fuel from its partner Neste, which will be used on flights departing from Helsinki Airport.

Finnair's customers also contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, as a small part of the price of each air ticket goes towards the cost of using sustainable fuel.

The Finnish airline has set itself the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2045. Neste's fuel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over the life cycle of the fuel compared to the use of fossil paraffin. The amount of fuel purchased is the largest amount Finnair has acquired to date.

Finnair sees sustainable aviation fuel as one of the most important tools for reducing aviation-related emissions.
