ICEHOTEL brings Arctic atmosphere to Strøget with new ICEBAR

This autumn, Copenhagen’s city center will gain a spectacular new attraction: the ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL COPENHAGEN. Covering 300 square meters, this immersive venue will be built entirely from natural ice sourced from Sweden’s Torne River. It marks the first ice bar outside Sweden operated directly by the legendary ICEHOTEL.

Arctic feeling in the Heart of Copenhagen

“We’ve long dreamed of bringing our unique ice experience to new cities. Opening in the Danish capital is a huge milestone for us,” says Marie Herrey, CEO of ICEHOTEL. The ICEBAR will be located on Strøget, Copenhagen’s most famous pedestrian shopping street, bringing a touch of Nordic winter magic to one of Northern Europe’s most popular destinations. The concept and design will be led by ICEHOTEL’s Creative Director, Luca Roncoroni. Each year, a new artistic theme will be developed by selected artists, turning every visit into a one-of-a-kind experience.

Ice, art, and expansion

Like the original ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi—200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle—the Copenhagen ICEBAR will be crafted from natural ice and snow. Since 1989, the ICEHOTEL has been completely rebuilt each year from ice harvested from the Torne River. It has become an international icon—now ready to expand its presence across Europe. Following Copenhagen, ICEHOTEL plans to open two new ICEBARs each year, through both owned locations and franchise partners.

Opening planned for fall 2025

The ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL COPENHAGEN is scheduled to open in Q3 2025. Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable escape into a world of ice art, arctic atmosphere, and icy drinks—without ever leaving the city.
