New airport through local efforts
The new airport in Mo i Rana in northern Norway is a historic project. This is because the planned airport was driven forward on a local level. The community as well as the local business community have committed themselves to make a significant investment contribution. Now they have reached the target of NOK 150 million.
Airport operator Avinor was impressed by the voluntary effort. Small and large companies, individuals and associations have contributed money and thus secured the financing. The first preparatory work is to begin as early as spring.
The airport in Mo i Rana will be the first major airport to be built in Norway after Oslo Airport, which was completed in 1998.
