New Scandic Hotel to open in Tromsø in 2025

Scandic Hotels has signed a long-term contract with property owner Totaleiendom AS for a new hotel in the new Vervet area in Tromsø, Norway.

The new hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2025, will include 305 hotel rooms, a restaurant, a sky bar, a roof terrace and meeting rooms that can also be used for private events. The building will be built with sustainability in mind and is expected to achieve BREEAM Environmental Certification Excellent. For example, Scandic guests will have access to an underground car park with 250 spaces equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles.

Hotel added to meet demand for leisure activities in Tromsø

The addition will also serve to meet the growing demand in the leisure segment. Tromsø has become an attractive hotel market for international leisure travellers, a category that is expected to expand in the future. Aside from cruises, this city is also a popular destination for northern lights and mountain tourism. Scandic already operates two hotels in Tromsø with a total of 390 hotel rooms.

Construction of the new hotel will start at the turn of 2022/2023. With a total area of 16,500 m2, the hotel is expected to be the largest one in northern Norway.
