SAS joins SkyTeam and expands the alliance’s network to the northernmost and southernmost airports in the world

A historic day for SAS and SkyTeam. The Scandinavian airline SAS is now an official member of the global airline alliance SkyTeam. This significant step marks a major milestone for SAS and significantly enlarges the alliance’s international network. By joining SkyTeam, SAS strengthens the alliance’s strategic focus on operational synergies and sustainability.

At the same time, SAS customers benefit from improved access to over 1,060 destinations worldwide, opening new opportunities in regions such as Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Existing codeshare agreements with Air France-KLM are already in place, and further collaborations with other SkyTeam members are expected.

SkyTeam expands its global presence

Patrick Roux, CEO of SkyTeam, highlighted the importance of close collaboration within the alliance: “Our goal is to be the most integrated and seamless alliance, providing exceptional value to our customers, member airlines, and employees worldwide. We are delighted to welcome SAS as a new member and to support them on their future path as we continue to expand our global network.” By joining SkyTeam, SAS customers now have access to a wide range of new destinations. This is especially attractive for members of the EuroBonus program, who can now earn and redeem points with most SkyTeam airlines. Gold and Diamond members also benefit from SkyPriority services and access to lounges around the world.

New status for EuroBonus members

SAS EuroBonus Silver members will now be recognized as “Elite” members within the SkyTeam network, while Gold and Diamond members will enjoy “Elite Plus” status, granting them exclusive benefits and priority services.

SkyTeam serves the world's most extreme airports

With SAS joining, SkyTeam becomes the only airline alliance to serve both the southernmost and northernmost commercial airports in the world: Ushuaia in Argentina and Svalbard in Norway. This addition further strengthens the alliance’s presence in key markets and improves connections to the Scandinavian hubs of Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo, offering travelers more robust travel options.
