Vuokatti grows: Osuuskauppa Maakunta invests in new holiday apartments and strengthens tourism

Osuuskauppa Maakunta has launched an ambitious expansion project in Vuokatti: In addition to the main building of the Break Sokos Hotel, which was already modernized in 2025, 44 new holiday apartments will be built in the new “Hovinranta” location by the lakeside. These accommodations offer views of the water and the hills of Vuokatti and are designed specifically for discerning travelers with modern standards and sustainable features.

The construction project, starting in September 2025 and expected to be completed by the end of 2026 or early 2027, aims to significantly enhance the region’s tourism infrastructure. The expansion plans incorporate modern technical solutions, environmentally friendly materials, and the local landscape – and will create nearly 100 full-time jobs during the construction phase.

The new units complement the existing hotel offerings and cater to a wide range of guests – from solo travelers and couples to families and larger groups. At the same time, this initiative underscores the commitment to the development of the Kainuu region and is expected to generate positive impacts on local trade, gastronomy, and culture.

With this initiative, Vuokatti is positioning itself as an even more attractive destination – both for domestic and international visitors.
