Oslo Central Station is being developed into a landmark

Construction work is scheduled to start in 2025 so that the new central station in Norway's capital Oslo will be completed by 2029. The 36-storey skyscraper "Nordisk Lys", Northern Lights is to become the city's landmark.

"We envision that Nordisk Lys can house offices as well as hotels and restaurants with one of the most beautiful views of Oslo. Between two and three thousand people can work in this building in the heart of Oslo and travel to work in an environmentally friendly way," explains project managers Ellen Haug and Rune Breivik.

The smaller floors in the upper part of the building offer guests dining areas and viewing terraces, while the two lowest floors house all the station services.

The building was designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter in collaboration with CF Møller Architects.

The new station combines a new roof with plenty of daylight with the historic facades of the protected Østbane halls. On the north side there will be a new station entrance at street level, which should contribute to more urban life in Schweigaards Gate. A new entrance to the south will lead to Christian Frederiks Plass.

In the development of Nye Oslo S, the environment and sustainability play a major role. The focus here is on the reuse of existing buildings, environmental technology and energy efficiency.
