Nordic Collection adds direct winter connection to Kuusamo
From 21 December 2025 to 8 March 2026, the tour operator Nordic Collection will offer a weekly direct charter flight from Amsterdam to Kuusamo. The new route significantly improves winter accessibility to the Ruka-Kuusamo region which is currently the third largest international source market for visitors after the UK and Germany.
Responding to growing demand
Interest from Dutch travelers in Ruka-Kuusamo has been rising steadily in recent years. The new flight series answers this demand, making Arctic adventures more accessible than ever.
“We are delighted about this collaboration with Nordic Collection,” says Janne-Juhani Haarma, CEO of the Ruka-Kuusamo Tourism Association. “It strengthens our position in the Dutch market, where travelers value pristine nature, peace, and high-quality service – exactly what Ruka-Kuusamo is known for.”
Expanding Nordic Collection’s Finland portfolio
For Nordic Collection, the new flights mark an expansion into a fresh Finnish destination. “We’ve been organising trips to Swedish and Finnish Lapland since 2010, but this is our first venture into the Ruka-Kuusamo region,” explains Maarten Raes, founder and CEO. “We seek destinations that aren’t over-commercialised – and Ruka-Kuusamo stands out for its authenticity and stunning nature. Together with local partners, we aim to develop the region into one of our growth pillars.”
Boost for regional tourism
Ruka-Kuusamo is well-known for nature-based activities, from snowshoeing and husky safaris to skiing and Northern Lights tours. The area offers a wide range of accommodations, from international hotels to cosy log cabins, along with high-standard restaurant services.
With weekly flights from Amsterdam, Dutch visitors can now step directly into the snow-covered landscapes of northern Finland – just in time for the 2025–2026 winter season.
