Northbound Travel increases capacity and extends season for 2025/2026
The skies over Northern Finland are getting busier this winter. Northbound Travel has announced a significant expansion of its flight and travel operations to Finnish Lapland for the 2025/2026 season, with Kuusamo at the heart of this growth.
Major capacity boost to meet rising demand
To keep up with increasing interest in Northern Finland's winter magic, Northbound Travel is increasing its capacity to Kuusamo by more than 40%, offering a total of 10'000 flight seats. This expansion marks a strong commitment to one of the company’s most popular charter destinations and responds to the consistent growth in traveler demand.
Short breaks and longer stays
The new flight program focuses on 4- and 5-day short breaks, giving travelers greater flexibility to enjoy the highlights of the gateway to Lapland:, from husky safaris to northern lights adventures, even within a long weekend. At the same time, 8-day tours will now operate until the end of March, extending the season for guests eager to explore Kuusamo’s pristine snow landscapes.
More weekly connections from the Netherlands
Between 18 December 2025 and 29 March 2026, Northbound Travel will operate four weekly direct flights from Amsterdam and Rotterdam to Kuusamo in cooperation with Transavia. The expansion not only strengthens the connection between the Netherlands and Finland but also benefits local tourism businesses in the Ruka–Kuusamo region.
Strengthening Kuusamo’s position
With this move, Northbound Travel reaffirms its long-term partnership with Northern destinations and aims to bring even more visitors to experience the authentic nature, charm, and hospitality that define Northern Finland.
