Longest railway tunnel in Scandinavia opened from Oslo to Ski

The Follobanen from Oslo to Ski was ceremoniously opened by the King of Norway on 12 December. The train line runs through the Blix Tunnel, which is the longest railway tunnel in Scandinavia with a length of 19.5 kilometres.

The original journey time of 22 minutes is halved to 11 minutes thanks to the new line. Trains run at a speed of 200km/h. The new connection has four lanes, which also offers the possibility to significantly increase capacity.

In the near future, the trains that run in local traffic between Oslo and Ski will be replaced to gain more space and higher comfort.
