New line of the Bybanen tramway in Bergen launched
Norway's Minister of Transport, Jon-Ivar Nygård, opened the second line of the Bybane tram in Bergen on 18 November. The line runs from the Byparken stop in the centre via the Haukeland sykehus hospital to Fyllingsdalen.
Fyllingsdalen is a poorly served urban area. The journey takes about 16 minutes. Nine stops are served. The route stretches over ten kilometres. The train reaches a speed of up to 70 km/h.
The new line is expected to carry 34 000 to 40 000 passengers daily. In 2017, the line between Bergen city centre and Bergen Flesland Airport was completed. The Bybane is a great success and enjoys brisk demand.
