COVID-19 restrictions lifted for Icelanders

In response to low Corona cases and progress in vaccination, Iceland is lifting its restrictions. After 15 months of keeping distance, wearing a mask and other measures, all restrictions within the country have been lifted on Saturday, June 26. For more than a week, no new COVID-19 cases have been reported on the North Atlantic island. Nearly 90 % of all Icelanders over the age of 16 have been vaccinated at least once.

Compared to other European countries, the island-state with 360,000 inhabitants has long been one of the countries with the lowest 14-day COVID-19 cases.
