Hotell Onyxen expands its international reach with WorldHotels Crafted

Independent boutique hotel meets international distribution network

The family-owned boutique hotel will become Gothenburg’s first member of WorldHotels Crafted, combining an independent hotel concept with an international distribution and marketing network.

Hotell Onyxen in Gothenburg is joining WorldHotels Crafted, BWH Hotels’ collection of independently operated premium hotels. Located close to Avenyn, the property will be the first hotel in Gothenburg to become part of the brand.

The partnership gives Hotell Onyxen access to BWH Hotels’ international distribution and marketing network. At the same time, the hotel will retain its own name, concept and independent profile.

Personal hospitality in a 1906 townhouse

Hotell Onyxen has been operated by Helene and Pelle Johansson since 2021. The couple is also behind Gothenburg-based wellness company Hagabadet.

Set in a townhouse dating from 1906, the boutique hotel offers a limited number of rooms and focuses on personal hospitality and a strong connection to the city. For the owners, it was important to find an international partner that would allow the hotel to reach new markets without becoming part of a conventional hotel chain.

The property welcomes guests aged twelve and over. Guests booking through the hotel’s own website or BWH Hotels also receive access to Hagabadet’s wellness clubs.

A second boutique hotel planned for 2027

The addition of Hotell Onyxen reflects BWH Hotels’ wider focus on independent hotels with distinctive local identities.

Helene and Pelle Johansson are already preparing their next project in Gothenburg. A new boutique hotel is scheduled to open in 2027 in a former police station built in 1911 near Långgatorna. The new property is also expected to join WorldHotels Crafted.
