Historic ships, a slower pace, and the beauty of southern Sweden

Aviation & Tourism International has opened bookings for its popular Göta Canal cruises in 2026. These nostalgic journeys aboard meticulously restored historic ships take travelers across southern Sweden – perfect for those who love slow travel and maritime heritage.

Along Sweden’s “blue ribbon”

Stretching about 190 kilometers, the Göta Canal links Stockholm and Gothenburg, passing through 58 locks, forest landscapes, and the lakes Vättern and Vänern. The fleet’s gems are the Juno (built in 1874, the world’s oldest passenger ship with cabins), the Wilhelm Tham (1912), and the Diana (1923). Cabins are intentionally compact – comparable to a train sleeper – and styled after the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

A travel experience with timeless charm

Despite the limited space, the cruises offer high comfort in a classic atmosphere. “A journey along the Göta Canal is the perfect way to slow down and discover southern Sweden at its most enchanting,” says Jürgen Kutzer, founder of Aviation & Tourism International.

Dates, rates, and packages

Two- to six-day cruises run from May to September 2026. Book by December 1, 2025, to receive a 15% early booking discount. Optional packages include city stays in Stockholm, Gothenburg, or Oslo – with hotel nights and guided excursions. Travel agencies receive 14% commission and can request free flyers from the operator.
