New attraction at Trælvikose rest area on Helgeland Coast tourist road

There is a new attraction at the Trælvikose rest area on the Helgeland Coast tourist road. The Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta has installed 55 rectangular stones that make it possible to experience the tides. The stones are laid out in a horizontal line and can only be seen at low tide. Meanwhile, always in view is the imposing Torghatten, a mountain near Brønnøysund.

It is the work of landscape architect Thea Hartmann Kvamme, which has recently been delighting travelers on the Helgeland Coast tourist route. The stones on the sandy bottom appear at low tide. With the disappearance of the stones at high tide, the landscape changes immensely.

Along the 18 tourist roads there are many of these architectural and artistic places. They have been developed for almost 30 years by the public road administration "Statens vegvesen". More than 160 picnic areas and viewpoints are now joined by the attraction at Trælvikose.
