BASe Airlines launches flights between Helsinki and Savonlinna

The Finnish Transport and Communications Authority Traficom and the City of Savonlinna have signed a contract with Budapest Aircraft Service, also known as BASe Airlines. The airline will take over the operation of scheduled flights between Helsinki Airport and Savonlinna Airport from 13 November 2023 to 19 December 2025. The flights will continue until the end of 2025.

The current contract with Estonian airline NyxAir expires on 5 October 2023.

In August 2023, Traficom announced that BASe Airlines had won the public tender to provide scheduled flights between Helsinki and Savonlinna. In the winter season, seven return flights per week are planned, while in the summer season there will be six return flights per week. There will be a short break in flights of about three weeks in August in 2024 and 2025.

The city of Savonlinna and the Finnish state will jointly bear the costs.
