The Silent People Cafe / Kuutamo B&B

The Silent People Café is a small, authentic café located between Suomussalmi and Kuusamo. It's a great place to take a break for a cup of coffee and sweet or savoury snacks. Guests are welcome to spend the night in the hay and travel back to the time when hay was still made by hand. After the free overnight stay, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast in the café.

Kuutamo B&B is a friendly and affordable guesthouse in the heart of Suomussalmi with excellent neighbourhood services. Away from noise, you can enjoy your peace and quiet.The large communal kitchen is available to all guests. From nature and cultural activities to sports activities, everything is on offer. There is also a small souvenir shop and a sauna.

Hikes’n Trails 

Hikes'n Trails offers sustainable nature activities in the wilderness of Southern Lapland and throughout Scandinavia. To really experience the silence of nature, exclusive guided tours are organized, such as kayak tours or hiking trips. Guests can choose between day tours or longer week trips in the nature. Cosy accommodation, transfers and catering are included in service.
In the Wild Taiga area, Hikes'n Trails also organizes cultural and wilderness tours.

Martinselkonen Wilds Centre & Boreal Wildlife Centre

Martinselkonen Wilderness Centre is a family-run business established in 1991. It is located in the municipality of Suomussalmi, between the Martinselkonen nature reserve and the eastern border. The wilderness centre offers many comfortable accommodation options, a cafe/ restaurant and saunas. It also offers many activities related to bear watching and photography.

The Boreal Wildlife Centre offers high-quality wildlife watching and photography services. It is located on the shores of Lake Viiksimo. The area is a mosaic of small lakes, numerous ponds, pine-covered hills and eskers. In addition to activity programs, the Boreal Wildlife Centre offers accommodation in an old border station that was renovated for touristic use in 2009.

Lentiira Holiday Village

Lentiira Holiday Village offers wellness programs, activities and accommodation in the wilderness of the Arctic lake landscape in the Kainuu region. Hospitality has been practiced there since 1967. Lentiira offers guests a variety of programs ranging from hiking to wildlife watching. Activities are also offered in winter. At Lentiira Holiday Village, there are also nine individual, cosy holiday cabins for 2-7 people available. Those are named after the water birds native to the area. Furthermore, Lentiira Holiday Village houses the atmospheric restaurant Pirtti and sauna facilities with two saunas and a relaxation room.

Hotel Kalevala

Surrounded by ancient forests and crystal clear lakes, Hotel Kalevala is surrounded by a true wonderland. With nothing but untouched nature as far as the eye can see, Kuhmo is perfect for activities and wilderness adventures. The hotel is particularly popular with adults as it is far away from the hustle and bustle and noise of the cities. As well as relaxing in the spa/sauna facilities, there are plenty of activities on offer. These include wildlife watching, hiking, husky safaris and much more.

Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival

The Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival is a world-renowned festival held annually in Kuhmo, Eastern Finland. Fabulous musicians from all over the world perform at the festival. The two-week festival presents well-known chamber music classics, but also some rarities and a different theme every year. The concerts take place in the modern hall of the Kuhmo Arts Centre with its excellent acoustics, also in the new Tuupala School and the imposing Kuhmo Church. The whole village of Kuhmo is full of music during the festival.

Bear Centre

In the middle of the wilderness area in Vartius, in the Kuhmo region, the Bear Centre offers bear watching opportunities for its visitors. The Bear Centre, located less than two kilometers from the Finnish-Russian border, has specialized in wild bear observation and photography since 1999. The centre has a total of 29 different hides in different terrain, suitable for both bear photography and watching. Meals and accommodation are provided in a beautiful lodge located by a lake. The lodge is only a short walk away from the hides.

Das Kalajoki Booking Centre ist ein DMC-Büro im Tourismusgebiet von Kalajoki mit vollen Reiseveranstalterrechten. Pakete für FITs und Gruppen und Freizeitprogramme für Familien. Darüber hinaus ist das Buchungszentrum in Kalajoki Ihr Ansprechpartner für fast 300 Ferienhäuser und Apartments in der Region Kalajoki. Die Programme fokussieren sich auf die lokale Kultur, Natur und Geschichte. Zudem kennen unsere Guides viele Geschichten der Region. Die Aktivitäten konzentrieren sich vor allem auf das Meer während der Sommerzeit, umfassen aber auch die Winterzeit. Restaurant Pihvitupa 

Das Steakhouse Pihvitupa ist ein ansprechendes À-la-carte-Restaurant inmitten der Sanddünen von Kalajoki. Es ist bekannt für seine leckeren Steaks und die exzellenten Weine. Hier finden Gäste eine einzigartige Atmosphäre, Gastfreundlichkeit und köstliches Essen direkt im Herzen der Dünen von Kalajoki. Das Haupthaus des Restaurants wurde aus den vor etwa 100 Jahren gefällten und bearbeiteten Baumstämmen einer alten Schule gebaut. Es umfasst 40 Sitzplätze. Darüber hinaus steht ganzjährig ein Wintergarten mit 90 Sitzplätzen zur Verfügung.

Langin Kauppahuone

Das wunderschön renovierte Café und Boutique-Hotel aus dem 19. Jahrhundert liegt direkt am Pekka-Platz und beherbergt auch einen Shop und Showroom für die finnische Marke Utua. Das Handelshaus setzt die 200 Jahre alte Tradition der Kaufmannshäuser fort und erzählt auch Geschichten aus dem Leben der Bewohner und historischer Personen. Johan Lang, der Erbauer des Hauses, Mäzen und Kaufmann, war einst einer der größten Kaufleute Finnlands.
