Program and registration

Discover Oulu Region online

Unfortunately a FAM trip to Oulu Region is currently not possible. To learn more about Oulu and Rokua Geopark, a Virtual FAM Trip will take place on 1 and 2 December 2020. Local companies and destinations introduce themselves and present online what to look forward to in Oulu and Rokua.

Oulu and Rokua Geopark in Finland

The city of Oulu is located at the western coast of Finland. As the fifth largest city in Finland, Oulu offers its visitors plenty of tourist attractions and activities all year round. Oulu region is the biggest urban centre in Northern Scandinavia with 250.000 citizens. Oulu is very easy to access from any part of the world – there are numerous daily fights and just an hour’s flight from Helsinki.

Experience Finland’s stunning natural landscape at its best in Finland's first UNESCO Global Geopark. Shaped by the Ice Age, the spectacular scenery of Rokua Geopark opens up endless opportunities to explore and enjoy. Rokua Geopark comprises three different landscape areas: the Oulujoki River Valley, Lake Oulujärvi and the Rokua Eskers and Dune area. The legacy of the Ice Age and the history of the area’s development can be seen in the natural phenomena of Rokua Geopark, with its high dunes and deep kettle holes hidden deep within its boundless forests, spectacular sandy shorelines along its glistening lakes and rivers, and boreal forests carpeted with white lichen, mushrooms and berries.
