Snowshoeing Adventure in Teerivaara

Snowshoeing is fun and easy! On snowshoes, you can access the places in the National Park which would otherwise be difficult or challenging to reach. Try out marked snowshoeing trails make your own. Independent snowshoe excursions are wonderfully inspiring. You can hire snowshoes from the Syöte Visitor Centre. Maps are available from the Syöte Visitor Centre.

Teerivaara Snowshoeing Trail (6 km)

The starting point for the trail is Syöte Visitor Centre. Teerivaara Snowshoeing Trail will lead the hiker to the top of Teerivaara Hill. The trail is marked with orange sticks.

Ahmatupa Winter Bike Route (18 km)

The wild wooded hills of Syöte provide an ideal setting for many activities. Ski-trek through the magical snow-covered winter forests, or pedal up hill and down dale along the park's fine mountain-biking routes. The log cabin sauna at Ahmatupa in the heart of the park is a great place to soothe your body and soul. On Syöte winter bike routes, you will experience the thrill of speed and view a land of hills and forests from a new perspective.

This compacted trail is suitable for thicker, mountain bike style tyres (fatbike) and runs almost all the way to the Syöte national park. The Ahmatupa trail starts from the Syöte Visitor Centre. The route passes by the Annintupa day-trip hut and continues along the River Pärjänjoki across a marshy section in the direction of the Ahmatupa wilderness hut. Between the huts, you can stop by the Koiratupa day-trip hut, which is around 300 metres from the route. The Ahmatupa Wilderness Hut provides a perfect setting for resting and taking a snack break. During the skiing season, the Ahmatupa ski café sells a variety of products. There are cooking facilities in the open wilderness and a campfire site by a nearby hut.

Gather strength 

In addition, there are several beds in Ahmatupa which you can use to take a rest before heading back. If you want to stay overnight at Ahmatupa, you can use the rental hut area. An overnight stay includes the use of the sauna. From Ahmatupa, the trail returns towards the Visitor Centre. The way back leads gently downhill and you can stop by the Välitupa open wilderness hut. After the Palosuo, the circular trail links up with the outward trail and follows the same track back to the Nature Centre.
