Signs show that the area around Svansele was inhabited by people 5-6000 years ago. The Moose people settlement camp has been created under guidance by archeologists with great knowledge about the people, who lived under extremely primitive and harsh conditions thousands of years ago. This picturesque setting deep within the forest close to the frozen Skellefteå river is the location for Santa Claus’ secret hideaway from mid November. Here, Santa Claus invites guests from all over the world to his home. A small herd of tame reindeers walk around the area, which is lit by open fires, creating the right Christmas atmosphere while also keeping his guests warm and comfortable.
You are welcomed by Santa Claus, his wife waits with warm mulled wine or warm lingonberry drinks. Guests will hear many stories and tales from the wilderness. Santa will especially give a lot of attention to the kids, talking to them about the wild forests and Christmas time.
2 hours program plus snowmobile tour: Starting at the Wilderness exhibition, the guests will be equipped with warm clothes and helmets. After a short safety instruction, the guide drives the guests on a snowmobile and sled, out to the Moosepeople settlement Camp to Santa’s secret hide-away. Once arrived at the Moosepeople camp, program follows according to 2-hour event above.
4 hours program plus Wilderness Camp, Dinner, Hot Tub: After visiting Santa’s secret hide-away we continue to the Wilderness Camp in the middle of the forest (about 5 km) where guests will be served the Wilderness plate (moose, reindeer and local fish) served on a wooden plate together with local vegetables and a home cooked marmalade. After dinner, guests can enjoy the warm sauna and the outdoor wooden hot tubs.

A few kilometres from Skellefteå you will find the idyllic village of Svansele. There is Sweden's largest wilderness exhibition in the Svansele Vildmarkscenter. The exhibition presents more than 680 different animals of the region, which are shown in their natural habitat.
Skellefteå is the southern outpost of Swedish Lapland, right by the Gulf of Bothnia coast. A cosy small town, in one of Europe’s last remaining wildernesses and close to the Arctic Circle. Here we offer unique discoveries and memorable moments. From dense forests and the roaring rivers to the open coastline; from a summer sun that doesn’t really set for 100 days to a spectacular landscape that offers a rugged and adventurous arena for unique experiences.
