Experience arctic northern Norway. The Lyngen Alps region offers a perfect combination of wild, untouched nature and comfortable accommodation. Hunt for the northern lights and take part in activities such as ice-fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, whale watching and sled dog tours. Enjoy the beauty and serenity of the winter landscape of the Lyngen Alps.
XLyngen is located at the northern end of the Lyngen Peninsula, in the town of North Lenangen. The 5 holiday homes and 2 apartments are cosy and well equipped (kitchen, living room, bathroom, 3 bedrooms) and are situated directly at the sea. Here you will find the opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax completely.
Pick up of guests at a hotel (for previous stay) or at the airport in Tromsø. From there minibus transfer to North Lenangen. The journey time including a ferry crossing over the Ullsfjord takes 2 hours.
Arrival at Hotel XLyngen and check-in. A delicious soup with freshly baked bread will be served for dinner. Afterwards the first excursion is on the program; at a northern lights workshop you will be shown how best to take photos of northern lights with your own camera (approx. 1 hour).
After breakfast, a hike or snowshoe tour to the northernmost end of the Lyngen Peninsula - Lyngstuva - is on the agenda. The hike takes you along the coast and ends at a small lighthouse. In the neighbouring hut you take a break to eat something and drink something warm. The route is quite easy to hike and along the way there are wonderful views over the surrounding islands, the sea and the mountains.
Return to the hotel; arrival at about 2 pm. The afternoon is free and you can explore the area on your own. At 5 pm a delicious 2-course dinner is served, prepared with regional ingredients. Alcoholic beverages exclusive. After dinner you can relax in the sauna and whirlpool and with a little luck watch the northern lights.
After breakfast you will take part in the activity indicated at the time of booking, a snowmobile safari or dog sledding tour.
After dinner (beginning approx. 5 pm) you start a guided northern light hike with snowshoes. The tour will lead you to a beautiful place without disturbing lights, from where you will enjoy a magnificent view over the sea and mountains and have the perfect conditions to experience and photograph Northern Lights. A so-called lavvo (tent) serves as shelter while you wait for the northern lights. Warm drinks and headlamps are provided. After midnight you return to your accommodation.
If you have chosen the 4-day package (Do.-Su.) you will be taken back to your departure hotel in Tromsø or to Tromsø Airport after breakfast.
If you have opted for the 5-day package (Sun.-Th.), the additional day is at your free disposal. For an extra charge you can book further activities, e.g. whale watching or ice fishing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
After breakfast you will be taken back to your departure hotel in Tromsø or to Tromsø Airport.

More about Visit Lyngenfjord »»
The Lyngenfjord region is located in the north of Norway and lies quite exactly between the towns of Tromsø in the southwest, Alta in the north and Finland in the east.
The area consists of the islands around Skjervøy, the majestic Lyngen Alps, the large valleys and wide rivers in the east as well as the Reisa National Park and the Finnmarksvidda towards Finland. The region is quite unknown and offers many spectacular nature experiences and impressive cultural offerings that are hardly known and little visited.
The culture of the region is characterized by the "meeting of the three tribes". Kven, Sami and Norwegians have lived and worked side by side around the Lyngenfjord for generations. This has influenced the language, traditions and cultural heritage of the region.
