Amos Rex in Helsinki

Amos Rex is an art museum with unique architecture that was opened in central Helsinki in August 2018. Amos Rex consists of new underground exhibition spaces, the old Lasipalatsi (glass palace) from 1936 and its Bio Rex cinema, as well as a vibrant event forum on Lasipalatsi Square, which serves as the roof of the exhibition hall.

Amos Rex’s exhibition programme extends from the newest, often experimental, contemporary art to 20th-century Modernism and ancient cultures. The goal is for the past, present and future to produce unique experiences and surprising encounters beneath and above ground, and on the screen.

  • Opening hours: Monday 11 am. – 6 pm., Tuesday Closed, Wednesday 11 am. – 8 pm., Thursday 11 am. – 8 pm., Friday 11 am. – 6 pm., Saturday 11 am. – 5 pm., Sunday 11 am. – 5 pm. Ticket sales end 30 minutes before the museum closes.

Private Guided Tours & Workshops

Amos Rex offers private guided tours with different focus points in Finnish, Swedish, English, Russian, French, German, Spanish and Japanese. Maximum group size is 25 and tours can be booked for visitors of all ages. Lengths 20-45 min. Amos Rex also offers art workshops and personalized parties for both adults and kids. Amos Rex is a private art museum whose construction and operations are funded by Amos Anderson’s Föreningen Konstsamfundet association. Amos Rex’s predecessor, the Amos Anderson Art Museum, functioned on Helsinki’s Yrjönkatu in 1965-2017 in the former home and offices of the art patron and newspaper publisher Amos Anderson (1878-1961).
