Welcome to Liminka Bay Visitor Centre. Experience nature on wings on Finland's finest wetland! The evening flights of the geese, the spring dance of the ruffs and the autumn migration of the common cranes are absolutely amazing.

Services of the visitor centre

Step into the Visitor Centre’s exhibition and find yourself in the thrilling world of birds! The exhibition reveals the secrets of our feathered friends and lets you experience them with all the senses. You can watch live video from the Liminka Bay, see summertime activities of birds from a close range. At the Virkkula observation platform situated close to the Visitor Centre, you will see birds from morning to night. Around Liminka Bay, you will find many bird-watching towers, duckboards and structures serving visitors, such as campfire sites. The visitor centre and its surroundings are suitable for the disabled. The visitor centre is open all year round. There is no entrance fee to the visitor centre.

Location: Located in Liminka , 35 km from the centre of Oulu and 25 km from the Oulu airport.

Interactive exhibition about birds, guide services, programme services, a café & restaurant, conference and sauna facilities, accommodation, caravan parking spots with electricity, five bird-watching towers, campfire sites, events, nature education, a nature-themed shop, Wifi, services provided by the cooperating partners are also available.

The Eight Seasons of Bird's Year exhibition

The Liminka Bay Visitor Centre exhibition “The eight seasons of a bird ́s year” introduces you to the birdlife of Finland throughout the year. The leading role is played by the multitude of bird species at Liminka Bay, but the exhibition also includes a general overview of birdlife in Finland. Have you ever wondered why Liminka Bay is such a unique place for birds or how birds are able to fly? Where do the birds spend their winter, or how do those birds that stay in Finland survive the winter? This interactive exhibition will show you the answers to these questions. You will also find information on the birds’ senses, nesting habits, migration and moulting.
