In good company

There where east meets the west,
where hills are high and water streams freely
a curious mind can find something new.
To give time for your thoughts and to do whatever you want.
There you can find a place with no comparison,
a piece of pure nature and real experiences
A place full of active people and a place which is always nice to visit.
HAAPALA- Because sometimes its better to change scenery.
This is Finland, with a twist.

Restaurant Haapala

Our goal is to make sustainable food and drink products, using the local products of the season. We believe in local food and we will do our best to have products of the local farmers in our menu.

We make food and brew beer with great passion – seasonally and sustainably. In our menu you can find local vegetables and wild herbs of the season, which is our way to respect and celebrate the finnish forest and nature – things that are important to us.

Brewery

Our brewery shares the same values as our restaurant. We want to produce tasty local beers to be enjoyed with our delicious food. The tastes from the finnish nature and the Kainuu region will be strongly represented in our beers.

The main building of Haapala was built in 1868, so we are celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. In spring 2018 we visited Jyväskylä where Hiisi Brewery kindly produced the Haapala 150th anniversary beer for us with our own Pale Ale recipe, which is called Kuusenkerkkä Pale Ale. It has been brewed with 3 american hops and spruce tips foraged from Haapala’s own forest.

This beer is now ready to be enjoyed by tap or bottle in the restaurant, so you are warmly welcome to come and try it, until the others arrive.

Accommodation in Haapala

In addition to the delicious food and delicious beer, Haapala BnB also offers visitors the opportunity to stay overnight. Two accommodation options are available: Four refurbished rooms in the main building built in 1868 by local cantor and six new cottages built in 2018.
