The region between Tromsø and Alta remains relatively unknown, but it has a rich Arctic wilderness and exciting activities. Stay off the beaten track, enjoy our exciting local culture, winter activities and the Northern Lights.
Your basecamp will be the Reisafjord Hotel in Sørkjosen. The rooms are newly renovated and offer nice views of the Reisafjord and the mountains. Sitting in the restaurant you can follow the locals working at the harbour and enjoy the view of the Reisafjord while we serve you traditional dishes made from local produce.
Pick up in Tromsø at the airport or your hotel. The drive takes about 3 hours and will give you a first impression of the beautiful nature in our region. Check in at the Reisafjord Hotel in Sørkjosen. In the evening, we serve you dinner based on local produce.
After breakfast, you will do dog sledding in the beautiful Reisa valley. The trip takes about 2 hours where you will drive your own dog team.
During the dog sledding we will stop for a longer break where a hot meal and drinks will be served. Back at the hotel, coffee, tea and waffles are waiting for you – a good Norwegian tradition.
Afterwards we will go chasing the Northern Lights. After a short transfer by car, we will find a protected place where we will make a bonfire and wait for the Northern Lights to appear. Back at midnight.
Today you will experience real Sami life, when visiting a reindeer herder, where you can feed reindeers, participate on a reindeer sleeding tour and listen to stories of the Sami life. We serve as well beverages and a traditional meal. Waffles, tea and coffee waiting for you at the hotel.
Dinner in the evening. If you want, you can book a third Northern Lights Safari for tonight.
If you have chosen the 4-day package, you will leave Reisafjord after breakfast and be taken back to your departure hotel in Tromsø or to Tromsø Airport.
If you have decided on the 5-day package, a snowmobile ride is on your programme. You will first be taken to a frozen mountain lake sitting in a sled. Once there, you will have the opportunity to ride the snowmobile yourself. Afterwards you walk with snowshoes through the winter nature and you have the possibility to try your luck in ice fishing. A warm lunch and drinks will be served in a warm place.
Breakfast, lunch, Coffee/tea, waffles and dinner included for the 5-day package.
After breakfast you will be taken back to your departure hotel in Tromsø or to Tromsø Airport.

More about Visit Lyngenfjord »»
The Lyngenfjord region is located in the north of Norway and lies quite exactly between the towns of Tromsø in the southwest, Alta in the north and Finland in the east.
The area consists of the islands around Skjervøy, the majestic Lyngen Alps, the large valleys and wide rivers in the east as well as the Reisa National Park and the Finnmarksvidda towards Finland. The region is quite unknown and offers many spectacular nature experiences and impressive cultural offerings that are hardly known and little visited.
The culture of the region is characterized by the "meeting of the three tribes". Kven, Sami and Norwegians have lived and worked side by side around the Lyngenfjord for generations. This has influenced the language, traditions and cultural heritage of the region.
