New routes, increased capacity and additional international connections respond to growing demand for summer travel to Norway

Norwegian airline Widerøe is significantly expanding its summer 2026 flight programme in response to continued strong demand for travel to Norway, particularly to Northern Norway. With new seasonal routes, increased frequencies and expanded international connections, the airline is creating more opportunities for fly-and-drive holidays, multi-region itineraries and flexible round trips across Norway.

Improved access to Northern Norway

A key focus of the expanded programme is improved connectivity between Oslo and destinations in Northern Norway, including Bodø, Tromsø, Leknes and Svolvær. Additional summer flights are designed to strengthen access to popular regions such as the Lofoten Islands and coastal Northern Norway, both of which continue to see rising international interest during the summer season. The Tromsø–Svolvær route will also operate with increased frequencies during peak summer weeks.

Demand for flexible itineraries continues to grow

Widerøe’s expanded network reflects a broader travel trend towards more flexible and individual ways of exploring Norway. Fly-and-drive holidays and itineraries combining cities, fjords and Northern Norway are becoming increasingly popular among international travelers. Improved domestic connections make it easier to combine several regions within one journey.

International summer routes return

Alongside its domestic expansion, Widerøe is also bringing back several international summer routes and increasing frequencies on selected connections. These include flights to Munich, Dublin, Florence, Billund, Nice and the Faroe Islands, helping to strengthen Norway’s accessibility from key European markets during the summer travel season.

Strong demand for Northern Norway

The expanded summer program highlights the continued popularity of Northern Norway as a travel destination. Areas such as Tromsø, Bodø and the Lofoten Islands are increasingly developing into year-round destinations, with summer tourism continuing to grow strongly. For tour operators and tourism suppliers, the additional connections create new possibilities for designing more flexible and regionally combined travel products.
