A new chapter of legendary luxury begins in Finland: the Waldorf Astoria Helsinki has officially opened its doors, marking Hilton’s first luxury hotel in the Nordic countries.
Owned by M&L Group and operated by Hilton under the Waldorf Astoria brand, the landmark property occupies four beautifully restored historic buildings designed by Finnish architects Evert Lagerspetz and Armas Siitonen. With 116 elegant rooms, including 32 suites, the hotel blends timeless refinement with Nordic sophistication and offers the signature Waldorf Astoria service renowned worldwide for over a century.
Each room combines Nordic minimalism with a warm, tactile ambiance. Handcrafted furnishings, natural materials and soft tones reflect Helsinki’s design heritage in a modern yet welcoming way. Several suites feature in-room saunas, steam rooms, or private terraces with jacuzzis, while attic-style duplex suites preserve original wooden beams under heritage protection, creating a unique spa-like retreat in the heart of the city.
Located in one of Helsinki’s most historic districts, the hotel is just steps from Helsinki Cathedral and the Market Square, perfectly balancing urban charm and coastal tranquility.
“This landmark hotel will set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the region,” said Simon Vincent, President, EMEA, Hilton. “It blends Waldorf Astoria’s timeless sophistication with the distinctive spirit of Finnish culture.”
“Waldorf Astoria Helsinki is more than a hotel – it’s a celebration of elegance and heritage in Finland’s capital,” added Dino Michael, SVP & Global Head of Hilton Luxury Brands.
With this opening, Waldorf Astoria expands its global portfolio to 36 properties across five continents, joining destinations such as New York, Rome, and Osaka.
