Swedavia, the operator of ten Swedish airports, reported a positive pre-tax result for 2025 – the first full-year profit since the pandemic. The milestone marks a significant step in the recovery of Swedish aviation. However, the real relevance lies beyond the headline figure.
In 2025, more than 33 million passengers travelled via Swedavia’s airports, representing a 2.4 percent increase compared to the previous year. The growth was primarily driven by international travel (+3.1%), while domestic traffic remained stable. Notably, international passenger numbers at Stockholm Arlanda in October exceeded pre-pandemic levels. For inbound tourism, this indicates strengthening international connectivity.
During the year, Swedavia significantly expanded its network, welcoming eight new airlines, launching 37 additional scheduled routes and adding 23 new destinations. At the same time, the company initiated detailed planning for the future Pier G at Stockholm Arlanda, along with expanded baggage handling and increased check-in capacity at Terminal 5. Together, these developments reflect a clear long-term commitment to infrastructure investment and signal growing capacity to support rising international demand.
Swedavia continues to integrate sustainability into its operational model:
Seven of ten airports are certified at the highest level of Airport Carbon Accreditation
Airport operations have been fossil-free since 2020
SEK 140 million has been invested in sustainable aviation fuel incentives since 2020
For portfolio strategy, this signals operational resilience and long-term connectivity in the Nordic market. The report is not merely about profitability. It reflects structural recovery and forward-looking investment.
