New 154-room property will strengthen tourism infrastructure at the gateway to Senja

Scandic continues to expand its presence in Northern Norway with a new franchise hotel in Finnsnes, scheduled to open in summer 2028. Developed in partnership with Norlandia Hotel Group, the hotel will feature 154 rooms, a restaurant and modern meeting facilities. Finnsnes serves as the main gateway to the island of Senja, a destination increasingly recognised for its dramatic landscapes, Arctic nature, Northern Lights and hiking opportunities.

Supporting tourism growth

The new hotel adds valuable accommodation capacity in a region experiencing increasing visitor demand. For tour operators, this creates additional opportunities when planning itineraries that include Senja and Northern Norway. Although operated by Norlandia Hotel Group, the property will be fully integrated into the Scandic brand, giving guests access to the company's recognized quality standards and loyalty program.

Sustainability remains a priority

The hotel is expected to receive the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, reflecting Scandic's long-term sustainability strategy. It also forms part of a broader urban development project designed to strengthen Finnsnes as an attractive destination for both residents and visitors.

A stronger gateway to Senja

Located along the Hurtigruten coastal route, Finnsnes provides easy access to one of Norway's fastest-growing nature destinations. Its combination of fjords, mountains, beaches and Arctic experiences continues to attract international leisure travelers.

Growing accommodation capacity in Northern Norway reflects increasing international interest in Senja and provides new opportunities for future travel programs.
