SAS has once again ranked as Europe’s most punctual airline.
According to Cirium’s August 2026 On-Time Performance report, 87% of SAS flights arrived on time. The result marks the airline’s eleventh number-one placement across European and global Cirium rankings during the past two years.
Across 2025 and 2026, SAS has achieved seven top rankings in Europe and four global number-one positions.
August is one of the busiest months in European aviation, with high passenger volumes, busy hubs and congested airspace putting additional pressure on airline operations. Against that background, SAS’ performance is particularly notable. The airline points to improved turnaround processes, structured daily planning and closer coordination between operational teams as factors behind its performance. For travellers, punctuality makes a journey easier. For tour operators, its impact can reach much further. A delayed flight can affect airport transfers, connecting services, accommodation arrangements and activities scheduled for arrival day. This becomes particularly relevant in the Nordics, where guests may connect through larger Scandinavian hubs before continuing to regional airports.
New routes and additional flight capacity understandably attract attention in tourism. But accessibility also depends on how reliably those connections operate. For tour operators building Nordic programmes, particularly multi-destination itineraries, operational stability can therefore be just as relevant as the number of flights available. As SAS celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2026, its latest punctuality ranking provides a positive signal for the connectivity of the region.
