SAS Scandinavian Airlines has been ranked the most punctual airline in Europe and second globally, according to new data from aviation analytics firm Cirium. The ranking is based on the on-time performance of thousands of airlines worldwide and highlights SAS’s strong operational reliability.
In March 2024, SAS achieved an on-time performance rate of 83.4%, meaning more than eight out of ten flights arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. This figure is well above the European average. With this performance, SAS secured the top spot among European airlines and placed second in the world—surpassed only by a Japanese airline in the global rankings.
These results reflect SAS’s strategic focus on reliability and customer satisfaction. While punctuality is crucial for business travellers, it is also a key quality indicator for leisure passengers. SAS welcomed the recognition, stating: “We are proud to receive this honour and see it as motivation to continue investing in quality, efficiency, and the overall customer experience.”
As one of the leading carriers in Scandinavia, this recognition strengthens SAS’s reputation and further positions the Nordic air travel market as reliable and high-performing. It also sends a positive signal for Northern Europe as a travel destination, reinforcing its competitiveness and appeal among international travellers.
By being named Europe’s most punctual airline, SAS proves that Scandinavian carriers excel not only in sustainability and service, but also in operational excellence. For tour operators, business travellers, and holidaymakers alike, this is a compelling reason to choose SAS – and a strong indicator of high standards in Northern European aviation.
