Havila Kystruten no longer transports electric, hybrid and hydrogen cars for safety reasons. A risk analysis has shown that possible fires of electric cars require an extraordinary rescue operation.
The Norwegian shipping company refrains from allowing electric and hybrid cars as well as hydrogen cars on board the ships for the protection of passengers and crew.
Havila Kystruten is working to find solutions that can minimize the risk of transporting these vehicles in the future.
The company has also decided that private fossil fuel vehicles will only be loaded and unloaded in Bergen and Kirkenes.
