Lelångenleden, a new regional cycle route, was opened in June this year. The 180-kilometre cycle path connects western Sweden with Värmland and runs from the coast in Uddevalla along the lakes in Dalsland to the forests of Årjäng. The route offers cyclists a variety of landscapes, from picturesque stretches of coastline to deep forests and charming country towns.
The route is divided into four stages and consists of gravel and tarmac paths, making it suitable for both long tours and day trips. Key partners such as Visit Värmland and the Swedish Transport Administration are supporting the project to promote regional tourism and position Sweden as a first-class destination for cycling enthusiasts. The route should be fully signposted by the end of summer 2024.
There are numerous activities along the route, including museum visits, relaxing breaks in cafés, moose parks, swimming, canoeing and fishing. Accommodation options range from cosy hotels and houseboats to idyllic campsites. Sights such as Vårvik church on a small island in Västra Silen and Gustavfors Alcatraz Aktivitetscenter, where you can hire canoes and enjoy homemade pizza, make Lelångenleden a versatile destination.
